Website Types & Pricing

What does your price quote include?

My price quote is ALL-INCLUSIVE, unless otherwise stated. I don't like hidden fees and prices, so I assume the same for you. This is why I take the time to ask a lot of questions upfront and am probably not the cheapest project bid you'll receive. You can read more about what all is included with my price quotes on my pricing page which includes:

  • Mobile formatting
  • Basic Wix SEO (See SEO question for more details on SEO)
  • All general information entered into your Wix-site dashboard
  • Social media connections
  • Logo set for social sharing
  • Favicon image
  • Domain connection
  • Any relative screenshots and help for specific turnkey self-management of your site.
It's also important to me that you love your site! I understand that once you see your newly designed site, live, you may decide that a color or format isn’t working for you and what we will accomplish during revisions, which include three (3).** NOTE: **Design revisions are considered large-scale design and layout changes after the initial framework has been built. Edits are not included in design revisions, but I will edit and tweak smaller changes that do not impact major design changes, until corrected. The entire process usually takes up to a month to complete, unless the turnaround time in communications runs slow or is delayed due to U.S. holidays or weekends.

Do you provide retainer work?

The majority of retainer work is from previous clients. You can purchase retainer work by stating the number of hours you wish to purchase. Retainer hours work great for

  • Minor site edits and updates
  • Phone or online consultations
  • Small design changes or the addition of a widget/element to your site.
If you require larger-scale updates, a project quote will be provided. The retainer fee is $90 USD/hour with a minimum of one-hour required to purchase. Retainer hours are purchased via invoice. Please contact through melanieedwardsdesigns.com or email hello@melanieedwardsdesigns.com to discuss.

What is Wix Corvid and it's pricing?

Wix Corvid is web development that includes custom-coded site development with advanced filtering, database, and dynamic page builds. You can learn more HERE. Wix Corvid is not the same as any custom development as it is developing within the boudaries of the Wix platform, so although extremely powerful in custom capabilities, it still has its limitations inside the walls of Wix. Corvid and custom web development is NOT quoted the same as all other site work. Corvid custom web development requires an upfront analysis of requirements and the minimum quote is for 2 hours @ $250 USD. Due to the nature of custom development, requirements will be created, and your quote will be based entirely on the upfront requirements decided upon. Anything outside of the initial requirements will require an additional quote. All custom development, requirements, and the build is complex and requires testing and regression testing with all changes and additions, thus the need for a new quote based on any changes and additions outside of the original requirements.

What are "student-built" sites and pricing?

The Student-Build Program supports students in apprentice-type experience learning the ins and outs of web design and use of the Wix platform. Pricing is lower than traditional custom builds as students sharpen their skills, learn to anticipate site flow and user experience, work through edits, and deliver sites based on a client's requirements. Student-built sites are smaller builds and are limited to 5-6 pages max and does not include site builds with online booking, events, member-only pages, or subscription sites at this time. These may be added to the student program at a later date. eCommerce is offered as well, but limited to 10 products with flat pricing. -- Products that have options such as color/size, for example, or pricing variations based on these options will require a regular quote. Classic student sites are $250 USD eCommerce student sites are $550 USD For more information regarding student builds, visit the Student-Build page.

General Questions

Do you only work with Wix?  Do you also work in other platforms, such as Wordpress, Squarespace, or Weebly?

It's very important to me to be highly-niched and as proficient as possible when working for my clients. Although I have worked on other platforms in the past, I have found that narrowing my focus to only the Wix platform allows me to stay more creative while spending less time trouble-shooting or switching gears between how a platform works. Staying 100% engaged with the Wix platform provides me more time and creative energy to design a stellar site that exceeds your expections.

I'm interested in having you design/redesign a site, where do I start?

The first thing I need to know is a basic, high-level framework that you need for your site. This framework includes:

  • Types and number of pages
  • Possible design idea or links to inspirational sites (unless you're open to my own design creativity).
  • Specific needs you have such as a blog, store, online booking, or member areas, for example.
  • What action you want site visitors to take on your site. Maybe your site is an informational-only site, or maybe you want them to complete an online form, purchase a program/product, or sign up for a class or event.
Once I get an idea of what you need, I can then ask more specifc questions to help narrow things down. Bottom line, I want to be able to picture in my mind exactly what I'm building for you. Even though the exact layout and design is yet to be determined, I want to be 100% sure I can deliver what you need in order to provide a quote. That being said, if I cannot deliver what you need for your site, I will be upfront and inform you immediately so you may continue moving ahead with the best web designer for your needs. Access and complete the online FREE QUOTE form.

What kind of website designs do you do the most?

I see a lot of different types of website needs, but the majority are split between three types:

  • New websites (someone who's never had a website or new to websites)
  • Redesigns (someone has already built a Wix website or started a Wix site and unable to complete it)
  • Rebuilds (from another platform to Wix)
  • Wix Corvid, custom website development. Please see under "Website Types" for more details on Corvid.
Regardless of the type of build, all site designs and builds go through a similar process on my end, although there is a difference between how I handle a new build vs a redesign.* *See the question on redesigns for more details.

I need a redesign, but my site is already live...how will you redesign my site without everyone seeing it?

I handle redesigns in two different ways, and it depends on how you prefer to move forward. 1. I redesign the site on your current, live site. I build hidden pages that are unseen from the live site. I provide links to view the newly designed pages and once the framework, design, revisions, and edits are complete and you give the go-ahead, I then transition the pages to live and hide the old pages. 2. I redesign on a new site and once the framework, design, revisions, and edits are complete, I then transfer your Wix premium plan and domain to the new site. There is no right or wrong path, but usually boils down to a matter of preference to the client and based on a client's payment choice.* *Please see Payment Options question for more info about payments.

Do you work for Wix?

I am not employed by or affiliated with Wix. I operate completely separate from them as Melanie Edwards Designs LLC. If you have questions pertaining to using the Wix platform or have questions regarding use of the platform specific to your site, Wix has an extensive knowledge base that is their Wix Help Center. You can also reach out to Wix Support through the Wix Help Center. -- If you require a quote for a website project or consultation, please submit a website inquiry form. I am a member of their "Wix Partner" program in which I receive leads from Wix through the Wix Marketplace . You can view my Wix Marketplace portfolio to view my information and client reviews*. *Please note that all reviews shown in the Wix Marketplace are managed exclusively through Wix and do not allow any changes, edits, or exclusions of real client's ratings and reviews of my work.

How long does it take to have a website built?

A build timeline is usually pretty consistent, but is largely impacted by

  • Project scope/size
  • Current project load
  • Revision/edits
  • Communication turnaround
  • Timezone differences
The majority of sites take around a month to launch, but most sites end up taking longer. This is due to waiting on content, images, or waiting on feedback for revisions and edits. I tell most of my clients upfront that..."more-than-likely I will be waiting on you more than you will be waiting on me." If a rush job is required, this will be taken into account during the quoting process. As mentioned, timezone differences make a difference depending where in the world you are located compared to Tampa, FL (EST | UTC -5) , plus the current client load and your projects place in queue to be built*. *NOTE: If you do need a tight turn-around, a rush fee that pushes you to the front of queue can be added to your quote for an additional $250 USD.

Are student-built websites as good as regular-built websites?

Although students are responsible for the build of the website assigned to them and their work is overseen by ME Designs at all times. Sites must pass the strict, high standards of ME Designs in order to be passed on to the client.

Do you write content for websites or provide copywriting services?

Melanie Edwards Designs does not assume the role of product/service expert for your business, nor offers copywriting services. All content must be provided by the client for the site build. If you require copywriting services, I can refer you to a copywriter.

What's required by me for the website project?

For a website build or redesign, To build the site, I will need all content that will go into the site.

  • Logo or business name.
  • Any brand guidelines and/or font files, if available.
  • Content for the site, for example, your services and descriptions, your bio, etc.
  • Media assets, such as your photo, any images of your products, videos. If images are not provided, I use stock images as placeholders until new images are provided to me.
  • If you need online booking or an online store, I will need your bookable services/classes, availability for appointments, online store product titles, images, descriptions, pricing, etc.
  • Email address you will be using for the website. If you do not have a professional email, I can help in acquiring an email through Wix, which uses GSuite for an additional cost.
At the end of the build, you will need:

Can we chat on the phone/Zoom/WhatsApp about my site?

Absolutely! Before we hop on a call about your site, we do require you to complete our Website Build Questionnaire, first. This way we get a big-picture understanding of your requirements and you get an idea of our base pricing prior to the call. We value your time (and ours)!

Payments

How does payment work?  Do you accept credit cards?

I take all forms of payments and I invoice from two different platforms depending on a client's needs. 1. Wix Invoicing (that utilizes Stripe for a credit card processor or a PayPal option). 2. Wave Invoicing is a 3rd-party online accounting platform and is my default invoicing platform. Please specify if you require to pay via PayPal so that I may accomodate your needs.

Do you provide a payment plan?  What are your payment options?

Unfortunately, I am unable to provide payment plans for my clients. I suggest paying with a credit card and providing payments that way. In regards to payment options, this is determined by who owns the website as its being built or redesigned. If I own the website during the build, then I will accept a 50/50 payment option. 50/50 payment option is:

  • 50% of the quoted and accepted build price paid upfront to initate work.
  • 50% of the quoted price paid at the end of the build, or three weeks (21-days)*, whichever comes first.**
*Extending the final payment from 21 days after first payment is only determined on a per-job basis & based on the size of the project. Most project sizes are completed within this timeframe. Timeframes are mostly based on the communications delays during revisions and edits. Bottom line; I wait on the client more than the client waits on me. **Final payment does not close a build if the build is still open. I will still continue to work on your site until 100% completed and launched. If you own the website during the build and I am added as a contributor to your site.
  • 100% payment upfront is required.
If you absolutely require a 50/50 payment, a workaround for this option is for you to duplicate your website and transfer the ownership of the duplicated site over to me. NOTE: Unless I am working as a contributor on your site, I will transfer the website to your ownership after final payment has been processed.

SEO

Will my Wix website be found in Google searches?

SEO is important and fortunately, Wix has great SEO built in...no, you do NOT need a Wordpress site to have relevant SEO. Wix has provided all the SEO staples in the backend of their platform and a great SEO Wiz to finish the site right before launch. My site quotes include all basic Wix SEO into the site build/redesign such as:

  • Header tags
  • Image Alt Text where applicable
  • Page titles
  • Page descriptions
  • Wix SEO Wiz (utilizing top 3-5 keywords against page meta titles/descriptions) which is the last step prior to launch and your site is ready to be submitted to Google for indexing.
  • 301 Redirects, if applicable. This tells search engines to forward to new pages that may have a new url with a rebuild or redesign.
Note: I do not offer advanced SEO with custom Meta Tags. Meta Tags are set with page titles, descriptions, and through the use of the Wix SEO Wizard with basic Wix SEO setup. Front, user-facing site maps are not relevant with Wix site builds and Wix automatically updates backend sitemaps for all Wix sites. Read more about Wix site maps. Learn more about SEO. NOTE: I am not an SEO expert and do not utilize the tools to determine your keyword use for site titles and content based on your industry. I build your site based on the content provided by you and do not assume the role of copywriter and/or SEO expert for your build. SEO experts are highly specialized in their niche and I recommend hiring an expert to help you in keyword rich content and other aspects that play an important role in website search results.
